West Clare FRC AIMS TO:

 

  • Support people in enhancing the quality of their lives through the provision of non-discriminatory support services with a friendly ear and the voice of encouragement.


  • Empower the local community by the provision of training in personal, family and life skills.


  • Encourage greater community participation and awareness by providing access to and utilizing a wide range of up to date, free information In a friendly and confidential atmosphere.


  • Develop a range of positive, recreational and social activities which will be beneficial and fun for all ages.  Through this we plan to encourage confidence building, the growth of friendships and the breaking down of barriers which exist in our community.


  • Share the responsibility and ownership of the centre through a management structure that respects the needs, values and cultural differences in our community and is committed to developing a Family Resource Centre with a focus on strong local involvement.

The centre is open every day from 9.00am – 5.00pm. We’ll be glad to see you.

 

 

 

CONFIDENTIAL COUNSELLING SERVICE: Need someone to share your troubles with? Feeling lonely, hurt, depressed or unable to cope…. Specialist counselling available for marriage, children and bereavement.  Small donation requested.  Make an appointment on the confidential line 086-8600096

 

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: In conjunction with the VEC, new courses will be offered during 2010/2011at the Centre.  This is an opportunity to learn new skills without pressure.  There are no pre-requirements or exams and there is a registration fee and minimal fee per class.

OTHER CLASSES INCLUDE:

MONEY ADVICE AND BUDGETING SERVICE  - Wednesday 11:00 am to 1:00 pm by appointment 065-6841991

 

SENIOR ALERT SCHEME: security items available - Monitored Personal Alarms, External Security Lights, Smoke Alarms, Carbon Monoxide, Door Chain, Door & Window Locks (Wood Only)

 

 COMPUTER SUITE: At your service – Computers available to check your emails, research on the internet, down load photos, write letters and CVs as well as print.  A small fee for this service.

 

VOLUNTEERS: Do you have spare time?? Are you interested in learning new skills, getting involved, and doing something rewarding??  We are always looking for volunteers for Craft Classes, Tea Dances, Computer Assistance  come along and share your talent  please contact  us.

 

ANNUAL COLLECTION: to support women and children in abusive situations at Christmas time.  Items required are nappies, sudocrem, toothbrushes & toothpaste, shower gel, soap…… you can drop these items into the centre.

What’s HAPPENING – at the CENTRE

 

Celebration Days: Check at the centre for topics and dates- covering a host of topics

Women's Groups: Crinnu na mBan: Thursday 8:30 pm

Active Retirement:  Tuesday 11:00 am

Walking Club: 1 hour 3 times per week

Shine Group: Thursday 7:30 pm

Personal Development Life Coaching: Get to know yourself better and make informed choices about your future. 

Health information Day:   all sorts of topics covered, Puppet Show, Prizes, Gardening Project, Cooking, Drugs & Alcohol, Massage, Make & Do, Teenage Health, Women’s Health, Treasure Hunt and Light

Indoor Bowling: Mats available for rent for groups and clubs contact the centre

Friday talks: Weekly information talks – You decide the topic and we provide the Speaker 

Wrap & Chat: Christmas shoebox appeal, bring an unwrapped adult shoebox 1st Oct 2010

 Set Dancing:  get fit lunchtime classes

Feel Better Eat Healthier:  learn some new skills, refine some old ones - family cooking, men only cooking and just for fun cooking.

 

COMMUNITY SERVICES PROGRAMME

With a focus on older people

Coffee mornings/afternoons: Mon. Wed. & Friday from 10:30 to 12:00 in Kilrush, Kilkee, Cooraclare, Ballynacally, Carrigaholt and Quilty contact the centre for more details.

Tea Dances Monthly: The Tea Dance is held monthly on a Sunday in different parishes in West Clare.  Transportation is available ring the centre or call in.

Lunches:  are available at the centre for older people have company while you eat. 

Computer Classes: available for beginners

Arts & Crafts: In different areas around for fun and enjoyment.
