What is Pilates??
Pilates is an exercise system focused on improving flexibility and strength for the whole body, without building bulk. Pilates develops a strong ‘core’ or centre of the body. The core consists of deep abdominal muscles along with the muscles closest to the spine. Pilates emphasises proper breathing, correct spinal and pelvic alignment and concentrates on smooth flowing movement. The quality of movement is valued over quantity and repetitions. Proper breathing is essential to help you execute movements with maximum efficiency. A body with balanced strength and flexibility is less likely to be injured. Post Natal Pilates Classes:Pilates is a safe and effective form of exercise to start after having a baby. It will increase flexibility and strength. It should help relieve muscular aches and improve your posture. Exercises will focus on strengthening the pelvic floor, deep abdominals and core stabilisers.
