The Clare Branch of the Diabetes Federation of Ireland will be packing groceries in Dunnes Stores, Shannon on Friday the 12th of March and Saturday the 13th of March to raise funds for the Federation's Teen Activity Day in July 2010. Teen Activity Day is a day where teens with diabetes aged between 10 and 16 years spend the day in an outdoor education centre participating in team challenges. They also have the opportunity to meet other teens who have diabetes. Last year, teens from Clare travelled by bus from Ennis to Delphi Adventure Centre in Connemara.

The money raised will also go towards providing more CODE (Community Oriented Diabetes Education) programmes in county Clare. This is a free education programme for people with type 2 diabetes and has demonstrated an improvement in diabetes self-management for the majority of patients attending, with participants ultimately understanding their condition better and making positive lifestyle changes thus improving daily self-management of their condition. There have been 4 CODE programmes in Clare to date; Ennis, Kilrush & 2 in Lisdoonvarna.
