The next talk in the North Clare Historical Society’s lecture series will take place on Monday the 30th of January.
The talk is entitled “Stones and Stories from Doolin – An Evening with Pat Cronin, Micheál Shannon and Mattie Shannon”.
Pat Cronin lived in Bristol for many years. He is of Irish parents and spent a lot of time in Doolin from the 70's to the 90's. He is an experienced professional caver and has explored most of the caves in the Burren area. He interviewed Jack Garrihy and others on the Doolin mines and has also written a booklet on the mines. He has been living in Doolin for the past 10 years.
Micheál Shannon is a native of Carnaun, Doolin and now lives in Killilagh, Doolin. Micheál is owner of Killilagh guesthouse and he also farms. He plays the concertina and has collected a lot of folklore from his mother and neighbours.
Mattie Shannon is a native of Doolin. He lives in Toomullin, owns the Rainbow Hostel and also farms land. Mattie has a keen interest in folklore and pre-history. He enjoys photography and walking the Burren landscape.
The talk will take place in the Courthouse Gallery in Ennistymon at 8.00 pm and the admission is €5. Further information 087 292 54 87
