
Yoga Weekends @ East Clare Yoga Centre - 2010.
In addition to our weekly classes taught by Susanne Sturton and Lisa Bedford, (both certified Iyengar Yoga teachers) , we offer a wide range of Iyengar Yoga Weekends at the centre throughout the year. These are given by national and international Iyengar yoga teachers. Margaret RawlinsonMargaret has been teaching Iyengar Yoga for over twenty-five years and holds a senior Iyengar Yoga teaching certificate. She is firmly grounded in the precision and depth of Iyengar Yoga and has studied with both B.K.S. Iyengar and his daughter Geeta in India, the USA and Europe. She teaches regular classes in Berkshire, England as well as giving workshops and yoga holidays at home and abroad. Margaret also brings into her teaching the richness of her experience in Chinese Medicine, which she has been practicing for the last ten years, after qualifying in acupuncture and patent herbal medicine at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine. Margaret believes that we can find self-healing for mind, body and spirit in complete Yoga practice, which incorporates asanas (physical postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation. Her classes explore the asanas in depth to find new insights, openings and extensions – but always joyfully and with a sense of fun. Cathy Rogers-EvansCathy Rogers-Evans has been a student of Iyengar Yoga since 1976 in England, India, and recently in the US. She is an experienced and popular Senior Intermediate Level III certificate holder. She has been fortunate to have the opportunity to work directly with B.K.S. Iyengar on several intensive courses and many conventions. B.K.S. Iyengars’ dynamic, totally demanding, yet fully compassionate way of teaching is what inspires her to do her best to keep as close to his teaching as she can. Cathy moved to San Diego, California in 2002 and has taught at recent National US Iyengar Yoga conventions. She teaches workshops in California and Texas and also continues to teach workshops in England and Europe. Cathy trains teachers at introductory and intermediate levels in California and is also an assessor for the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States. Julie BrownJulie has taught yoga for over 20 years and is certified as a Senior Iyenger yoga teacher. She currently trains teachers on the Manchester & District Iyengar Yoga Institute’s teacher training programme. She has made numerous trips to the RIMYI Institute in Pune , India over the past number of years. Julie recently produced the highly popular yoga video ‘Practise and Enjoy’ as a tool for existing Iyengar yoga students to help them develop their home practice. More detailed itinerary information available on request. Judith RichardsJudith has been teaching yoga for over 25 years and runs her own Iyengar yoga centre in Surrey, England. She is a senior level teacher and has spent 7 months studying with the Iyengar family at the RIMYI Institute, Pune, India. She finds that learning yoga is a lifelong process, and brings to her teaching a wealth of knowledge and experience balanced with humour and compassion. She continues to develop her own practice and understanding of yoga and regularly attends workshops, seminars and intensive courses with the world’s greatest teachers in Britain and abroad. Suzanne SturtonSusanne has been a yoga practitioner for over ten years, having first been introduced to the art on her travels through Asia . She continued to complete a five year Iyengar Yoga teacher training programme in the UK , qualifying at the Iyengar Yoga Institute (Maide Vale) in London . This was followed by two years teaching at the Long Ditton Yoga Centre in Surrey , England . She then returned to Ireland with her family in 2002 to set up the east clare yoga centre. In addition to teaching regular weekly classes at the centre she continues to attend workshops with Senior international teachers. In 2004 she travelled to Pune , India to attend Geeta Iyengar’s 60th birthday celebrations, during which she received yoga tuition from Geeta and her father BKS Iyengar. Sallie SullivanSallie began her study of Yoga over 30 years ago. She has been teaching Iyengar Yoga in the UK since 1986 and holds a level III senior certificate. She is also a teacher trainer at the Iyengar Yoga Institute (Maida Vale) in London and an IYA assessor. Sallie has visited India 7 times to study at the Iyengar Institute. She enjoys teaching yoga postures to people at all levels of practice. Through asana she also hopes to convey in a practical manner some basic elements of yoga philosophy. Eileen Cameron Eileen has been an Iyengar Yoga practitioner for the past 20 years. She first attended classes in London and qualified as an Iyengar Yoga teacher following her return to Ireland 15 years ago. Eileen continues to work with many senior Iyengar teachers from the UK and India and is due to study at the Iyengar Institute in Pune, India later this year. She teaches weekly classes from her home in Monkstown, Co. Dublin and also conducts workshops throughout Ireland. Eileen is one of two Irish representatives on the IYA (UK) executive committee.
